Abstract

The article analyses the possible benefits of storytelling and parasocial design as a motivational aid in digital learning games. To this end, connections between storytelling, parasocial interaction and learning motivation in computer games are first described, followed by some recommendations for designing the structure of learning-motivating narratives for digital learning games. Finally, two examples of how to implement some of these recommendations are given.
