Abstract

This article is dedicated to the topic of "edublogging", i.e. the use of weblogs in the education sector, and focuses on the higher education sector. Weblogs are used in many places as an instrument for teaching, but also as a discussion platform in e-learning research discourse and as a means of public relations in e-learning centres and other central institutions. In addition, there are blog farms or multiblogs, which enable every university member to set up a weblog presence with just a few clicks. The landscape of edublogs is correspondingly multifaceted. The article sheds light on the phenomenon of the "edublogosphere" through an extensive literature review, web research, content analyses and surveys. The aim is a cartography of the diverse landscape of edublogs. As a result, specific features of the weblog strategies of e-learning institutions, blogging e-learning scholars, blog farms and other forms of use in higher education are described.
