Abstract
The article shows the media-pedagogical and image-scientific dimensions of a temporally and thematically staggered project. The starting point was the photo project "Life Pictures" initiated in 2009/10 by the organisation EXIT-Deutschland in Berlin with people who had left the right-wing extremist scene. The photos, which were taken within the framework of biographically oriented, media and social pedagogical case work, were understood and used as a process of individual image creation and as a means of reflecting on the respective life situation of the dropouts. An exhibition concluded this first phase of the project described here. Following the wish to have the practical experiences from the work with photos scientifically examined, the "life pictures" were first subjected to a scientific image analysis with students at the Institute of Educational Science at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 2011 and 2012 and then further developed into an exhibition by the students in a creative-interpretative project.
