Abstract

The present comparative study between a 9th secondary school class in a medium-sized town in Baden-Württemberg and a 9th grammar school class in a medium-sized town in North Rhine-Westphalia is intended as an explorative preliminary study for a qualitative study on the complex of topics "Gender / New Media / Young People of Different School Types". The research-guiding interest for the (longer-term) gender- and media-related youth study aims to answer the question of how learning, education and socialisation change through dealing with the new media - and how a gender-sensitive engagement with the possibilities of the new media could look in different types of schools.
