E-Learning 3-D - What Potential Do Virtual 3-D Environments Have For Learning With New Media?

Abstract

The current debate about virtual 3-D environments challenges not least media education. What are the didactic potentials of such environments and what pedagogical scenarios are already being realised here? Against the background of a presentation of currently discussed 3-D environments, pedagogical projects and concepts of multimedia learning as well as action-oriented media didactics, these questions are explored. The conclusion is an assessment of the media-didactic potential and an outlook.
