Abstract

Media didactics is a sub-discipline of media education and has experienced an enormous increase in demand and importance in recent years. This growth in importance is due to the increased use of digital information and communication technologies in educational processes (keyword "e-learning"). This article develops the thesis that media didactics, based on media technology developments in the context of globalisation, is subject to a dissolution of boundaries. This dissolution of boundaries is both an opportunity and a risk. This article first clarifies the concept of dissolution of boundaries. On the basis of three phenomena, processes of dissolution of boundaries are described for media didactics. Based on the problematisation of the processes of dissolution of boundaries, some conclusions for media didactics as a sub-discipline of media education are finally put up for discussion.
