Abstract

The use of forms of e-learning in higher education must be evaluated in the context of traditional forms of teaching. We suggest that the use of digital media and communication tools in academic teaching is not considered independently of the complex learning structure of the classical seminar. First, this requires an analysis of the collaborative process of constructing knowledge. Only against this background can the didactic potential of the corresponding media technology designs then be evaluated. Experiences from the nationwide RION teaching network will be used to illustrate the possibilities, problems and advantages of a didactic design that focuses on collaboration.
