Abstract
In the article, the question of the relevance of the term "media education" is dealt with in two sections: - In a first section ("Disciplinary Difference"), the use of this expression is traced with regard to a scientific-strategic labelling. In this context, reference is also made to the use of another expression, namely "media didactics", which is to be understood in the same way from the author's point of view. - In a second step ("Terminological Difference"), the author explores the conceptual connotations of this expression media education, i.e., here it will be necessary to recall the German-language distinction of "Erziehung" from "Bildung" and to specify "Erziehung" in relation to the other part of the composite term media education and to briefly demarcate it against several other terms.
