Abstract
The debate on the professionalisation of the educational discipline also includes a discussion of the self-image of media education and media educators. For the author, the media pedagogical professionalisation discussion therefore simultaneously represents the basis for an attempt to clarify a media pedagogical identity. He describes and analyses professionalisation strategies based on four concepts of media pedagogical professionalism: the protective-values-mediating, the socio-critical-science-centred, the educational-technological-opitimising and the networked media educator. Using Baacke's concept of media competence, he sets out the central cornerstones of a structure for media education. (DIPF/Orig.).
