Abstract
By staying in social spaces in which one is largely a stranger, the biographical assignability by others is limited. Mobility, both geographically and milieu- and group-specific (profession, circle of acquaintances, living environment), leads to a change of social reference groups and thus to the necessity to make oneself known again and again. Furthermore, anonymity is also a framework for interaction that demands self-expression in the here and now. The lack of recourse to shared phases such as schooling or education due to mobility and anonymity, the lack of third persons known in common, deprive biographical data such as origin, experiences and achievements of their qualitative significance about a person. The individual is de-biographised in social interaction.
