Abstract

The present comparative study between a 9th secondary school class in a medium-sized town in Baden-Württemberg and a 9th grammar school class in a medium-sized town in North Rhine-Westphalia is intended as a pilot study for a qualitative investigation on the complex of topics "Gender/New Media/Youth of Different School Types" (Director: Prof. Dr. S. Buchen). The research-guiding interest for the (longer-term) gender- and media-related youth study aims to answer the question of how learning, education and socialisation change through dealing with the new media, and how a gender-sensitive engagement with the possibilities of the new media looks or could look in different types of schools.
