Abstract

In many places, legal and historical studies in particular have been dealing with the press in research and teaching for a long time, albeit only in passing. The actual science of journalism or media studies, on the other hand, which is constantly concerned with the phenomena associated with journalistic communication across all media, is, like a large part of its subject, itself of recent origin. This affects the nature and performance of such a discipline as well as the transferability of its findings.
