Possibilities Of Empirical Recording Of Pupils' Computer Use In The Classroom

Abstract

This article deals with the possibilities of empirically investigating how pupils deal with multi- and hypermedia learning systems. The recording and evaluation of log files is an instrument for recording how students deal with these systems. It is explained which aspects have to be taken into account when recording and evaluating log files and which legal problems may arise. In order to substantiate the thesis that log file investigations as a non-reactive measuring method represent an important, if not solely sufficient, building block for the empirical recording of pupils' computer use, some exemplary investigation results are also presented.
