Abstract

Based on the necessity of qualitatively and empirically founded media pedagogical professional research, the article discusses how the group discussion method can be used for this purpose. By means of the exemplary reconstruction of media pedagogical orientation patterns of educators working in open youth work with the help of the documentary method, the practical application of the method is demonstrated and critically reflected. Among other things, it becomes clear that the group discussion method is well suited to contribute to closing existing gaps in media pedagogical professional research and at the same time can provide a promising approach to the development of a regularly demanded reflexive professionalisation.
