Abstract
This story was written by Elisabeth von Lothringen, Countess of Nassau and Saarbrücken. In 1437, she translated French chivalric novels from Charlemagne's sagas into German - the "chansons de geste", which were a hit with the public at the time, performed by minstrels. She thus became the first secular writer in Germany and the founder of German-language light literature (Rech 1994). In addition, she was also the first media psychologist on German soil: she must have known that media can trigger aggressive behaviour, because she simply omitted even bloodier passages than the one quoted.
