Abstract

Media education has only gradually established itself as an independent academic discipline since the end of the 1960s. It is a result of the differentiation in the field of educational science as a reaction to the educational consequences of the rapid development of the media in the 20th century. However, media education theory building has not really progressed so far for various reasons.
