Abstract
The implementation and modelling of longitudinal studies is widespread for the conception of quantitative research designs. Qualitative research predominantly - often due to a lack of research funding or the comparatively time-consuming data evaluation - only refers to a single measurement point. In contrast, a case-based survey of developments can make an important contribution to the reconstruction of processes. This approach is pursued in the DFG project on school development with digital media described below from a methodological perspective. The research design follows on from the results of the international and national qualitative IEA study SITES Module 2, takes up its repertoire of methods and expands it with quantitative methods. The follow-up study after five years aims to generate scientific-analytical and procedural knowledge about school development processes with digital media.
